We’ve been busy!!

The Christmas holidays seem like such a long time ago, and we’ve been so busy since then! The children have been really enjoying the big wooden blocks. We have noticed Tommy enjoying making climbing structures. He has extended his learning by adding role play equipment such as buggies and dolls. James, Archie, Albie, Soul and Jayden have been enjoying lining the indoor blocks up, using them as obstacle courses and roads for the big trucks and cars. Ella, Hamza, Sami and Eshan have been making stepping stones with them and hopping from one to the other. This has extended the children’s development in the following areas of learning: -Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Making Relationships and Self-confidence & self-awareness. –Communication and Language; understanding and speaking. –Physical Development; moving and handling. Mathematics; shape, space and measures. –Expressive Arts and Design; being imaginative and Using Media and Materials.

We have also been doing lots of cooking activities. We have been “cooking the rainbow”. This means we have lots of colourful ingredients for the children to use to make a tasty dish. Our first one was rice salad. In the children cut up peppers, tomatoes, cucumber, carrots and mixed them with boiled white rice. We all had a little taste at lunch time and it was delicious! For Chinese New Year we made a very colourful stir-fry with rice noodles, pack choi, baby corn, mange tout, peppers and mushrooms. With our left over fruit we have been making colourful fruit salads! They were so tasty!

These are all really easy to do at home with your children too and make a super fun activity and a really yummy dinner!

We need your help!

Fairfield Preschool still have spaces to fill – we have found that word of mouth is the best way! Please refer a friend to us and if they start with us you can have an extra day for free until the end of term as a special thank you! It would be great if you could take some leaflets away with you and distribute it in your housing estates, at the drop-ins you go to, your GP surgery and any other places that there may be children at the right age to join us! We can now accept children for the first term before their eligibility starts at a reduced rate – please see Roxy for details.

Holiday Club

Another service that runs from Fairfield is an after school club and holiday club for children aged from four years old to twelve years old. Steve, the play centre manager is currently taking bookings for the Easter Holidays (Monday 29th March – Friday 8th April). There are special offers and subsidies available. Please come in and talk to Steve in person or call him 02071835120 ext 2 with any questions or queries you may have, or to register your child/ren.

Coffee Morning

We would like to invite all families to come in and have a cup of tea or coffee with us. This will be a good chance for you to meet with other families that use the service, discuss with us what you like about Fairfield, what you think we can improve on, and what else you would like for us to offer you during these coffee morning which we would like to have quite regularly. Our first coffee morning will be on Thursday 17th March 2016 from 9.15-10.45. Please book your space with Sharon or Roxy.

Our online tracking system is now up and running and it’s lovely to see so many of our families accessing the system at home! If you are unsure of how to access it please download the app on your phone or tablet and check your emails for your login details – sometimes these go into your junk mail. We would love to see some photos and updates from what the children get up to at home too!

I would like to raise awareness, and ask you from my heart to donate some money to a very special little girl who has had the funding cut for an important operation that she was on the waiting list for. Bailey is a four year old girl who goes to Christ Church Primary School she has Cerebral Palsy. She struggles to move, walk and play with her friends and is often in lots of pain. Her mum, Shermel, is a member of staff at PACE and works for the mentoring project. She has the mammoth task of raising £30,000 to pay for her daughters operation that the NHS initially funded and have now cut the funding for.

Staff at Fairfield Preschool are currently discussing ideas of how we can raise money by doing fun activities.

Shermel will be running a Fun Day at our sister site, Fortune Green Play Centre in west Hampstead on Sunday 6th March 2016 and another one on 12th March 2016 here at Fairfield to raise some more money for Baileys Operation.

Please read the article from the website below and donate what you can to her just giving page. Any little helps!

Please remember:

  • Labelling your children’s clothes makes it harder for them to get lost! Please help us to keep tracks of your children’s belongings.
  • Please bring back any spare clothes we have lent you, our supplies are running short and we really need them! Any donations of clothes, socks and underwear would be gratefully received too.
